River Oak Turf - Quality Turf Products and Services to Lismore, Ballina, Northern Rivers, Gold Coast and Brisbane

Shademaster is a broad leaf buffalo which is soft to touch and non-allergenic. It has a deep green colouring and a high shade tolerance, second only to Sapphire Buffalo. Shademaster is a relatively slow growing turf that has good wear qualities and does self repair if damaged. It's thick dense mat helps inhibit weed growth and low mowing maintenance is required with Shademaster lawns.

Shademaster is a brilliant looking turf as the leaf stands straight, giving your lawn a uniform look that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Shademaster Soft Leaf Buffalo can tend to get purple colouring on the leaf tip during the colder months if mowed short and not fertilised during this period. To assist in maintaining the green colour, increase the mow height prior to and during winter and continue to fertilise your lawn.

Pests, Weeds and Diseases

Turf purchased from River Oak Turf are resistant to pests, weeds and fungi compared to most other turf varieties, but as with any natural product, occasional problems can occur. If these problems occur we recommend the following:

  1. Pests - watch for the lawn grub (e.g. web worm or army worm) and african black beetle- apply suitable pesticides according to directions.

  2. Weeds - if weeds infest, hand eradicate before seed head develops or apply a suitable weedicide (ask your local garden centre.) Contact River Oak Turf for an information sheet on these topics.

NB: sprays containing DICAMBA must not be applied to soft leaf buffalo grass...!!!!!!!
