Description
VelveteneTM exhibits significant salt tolerance. With global demand for water doubling every 20 years and water quality and quantity becoming a major concern, VelveteneTM is Turf Grass of the Future. This grass happily grows in a wide variety of soil types and ph levels. It can be maintained during summer dry spells with low water regimes and tolerates effluent, brackish and seawater blends.
The look of this grass is truly luxurious, the leaf has a wax coating giving the appearance of a glistening bright green, shiny lustre with a velvet soft touch. VelveteneTM is a tough, hardy plant with good drought tolerance and excellent recuperative rates from wear and scalping. It has good colour retention with early spring green-up rates.
For efficient use of environmental resources VelveteneTM becomes an obvious choice in the modern landscape.

Pests, Weeds and Diseases
Turf purchased from River Oak Turf are resistant to pests, weeds and fungi compared to most other turf varieties, but as with any natural product, occasional problems can occur. If these problems occur we recommend the following:
- Pests - watch for the lawn grub (e.g. web worm or army worm) and african black beetle- apply suitable pesticides according to directions.
- Weeds - if weeds infest, hand eradicate before seed head develops or apply a suitable weedicide (ask your local garden centre.) Contact River Oak Turf for an information sheet on these topics.
TIP – To achieve a fantastic looking lawn all year round, mow regularly and fertilise twice a year (preferably when it rains) with dynamic lifter.
